Oakwood Public Market Is Coming Back to Dripping Springs

There’s exciting news for the Dripping Springs community: Oakwood Public Market is making a comeback!

After closing its doors in early July, the popular Hill Country gathering spot at 2500 Beverly Drive is getting a fresh start under new ownership. Local residents Sarah and Dallas Miller have taken over Oakwood Public Market with plans to bring back many of the things the community loved about the space while introducing some new additions of their own.

For those who were sad to see Oakwood go, its return is definitely something to look forward to.

A New Chapter for Oakwood Public Market

Oakwood Public Market originally opened in 2025 as a unique community gathering place combining food, drinks, shopping and plenty of room to spend time with friends and family.

After facing challenges including rising costs, staffing constraints and leadership changes, Oakwood closed on July 3, 2026. But the closure didn't last long.

Dripping Springs residents Sarah and Dallas Miller saw an opportunity to give the space a second life. The couple lives in the nearby Headwaters community and had been regular customers at Oakwood themselves, stopping in for coffee, meals and family time before eventually stepping in as its new operators.

Their goal is to keep the Oakwood name and much of the original concept while making the space even more useful for local families.

What’s Coming Back — and What’s New?

One of the best parts about the new Oakwood is that it won't be completely unfamiliar.

The plan is to continue offering a mix of coffee, food, drinks and everyday market items, giving Dripping Springs residents a place where they can grab a morning coffee, meet friends for a meal or spend an afternoon with the family.

There are also several new ideas in the works.

One of the biggest additions is an arcade featuring both classic and modern games, giving kids another place to play while families spend time at Oakwood. The outdoor play area has also received improvements, and additional shade is planned for the patio.

With football season here, more TVs are also being added, making Oakwood another local option for catching a game while enjoying food and drinks.

The market itself is expected to become more focused on everyday neighborhood essentials, with items such as milk, cereal, ice and other basics available alongside locally sourced and specialty products.

New Food Is on the Way

Food will continue to be a big part of the Oakwood experience.

Chef Charles Dowd, whose experience includes Austin favorites such as North Italia, Haymaker and Black Sheep Lodge, is helping develop the new menu.

Visitors can expect the return of pizza along with an expanded selection featuring American favorites, Southern and Tex-Mex influences, sandwiches, pasta and more.

The owners have also discussed transforming the coffee shop on Friday and Saturday evenings into a 21-and-up concept featuring craft cocktails, draft beer, small bites and a more intimate atmosphere — giving Dripping Springs another potential option for date night close to home.

Keeping the Focus Local

Perhaps the most exciting part of Oakwood's return is the emphasis on community.

Sarah and Dallas aren't newcomers trying to figure out Dripping Springs from the outside. They live in Headwaters, are raising their family here and were Oakwood customers before becoming its operators.

Plans for the space include working with local schools and organizations on fundraisers and community events. There may also be opportunities for local businesses and makers to showcase and sell products inside the market.

That community focus fits right in with what makes Dripping Springs special.

When Will Oakwood Public Market Reopen?

The reopening is planned to happen in stages rather than all at once.

As of August 2026, the coffee shop is expected to be among the first portions of Oakwood to reopen, with additional dining, entertainment and market offerings following as the new ownership team gets everything up and running.

Because opening dates and hours may continue to change during the transition, locals should check Oakwood Public Market's website and social media before heading over.
